Welcome to HOANBU DAIRY GOATS!

pronounced "HOE-ann-boo",
derived from the first 2 letters of each of my names:
HOlly ANn BUroker
Holly Buroker

HOANBU Dairy Goats was established by myself and my family in 1986 in rural Logan County in West Central Ohio.
This small 3-breed herd (Nubians, Alpines, & Saanens) has come a long way from the more-than-humble beginnings
of two grade does, to breeding approximately 43 homebred permanent champions... and counting!
Averaging just 15 to 20 milkers at any one time, the entire herd (except one doe!) is solely comprised of homebred
mature does, all of whom descend from those first two unregistered grade does (the start to my American Alpine and American Saanen herds), and a single purebred Nubian doe kid purchased in 1990 (the start of my purebred Nubian herd).

I am proud of the fact that HOANBU has long been a "breeder" of quality dairy goats and not a "buyer" and continue to breed beautiful, quality dairy goats today.

Why Choose Us

Breed Quality

We strive to produce highly productive, show quality animals in each of the three breeds we keep. Our Nubians are based on the genetics of older Winterberry, Briarwood and Hallcienda lines adding Wingwood Farm, Lakeshore Farms, Kastdemur and J&R Spirit's lines over the years and more recently, Woest-Hoeve, DKGH Greenehaven, My Enchanted Acres, and CA BlackBerry’s. Our Alpines are based on older Sodium Oaks, Nodaway and Missdees lines adding Olentangy, Tempo, Redwood Hills and most recently Marran lines. Our Saanens have faithfully followed McQuitty Farm and Windsor Manor lines adding Loughlin's, des Ruhigestelle/Tempo Passa lines as well as Noble Springs, and Araby Farms.

Healthy Herd

Hoanbu kids are raised on a strict pasteurization program to prevent the animals from getting the CAE virus (Caprine Arthritis Encephalitis virus). Although we have had years of consecutive annual whole-herd negative CAE tests, we continue to pasteurize and heat treat. We hand-raise kids on pasteurized milk and heat treated colostrum and/or replacer from our tested CAE-negative herd.

Additionally, the Hoanbu herd is now and always has been abscess-free, including CL. Being from Ohio, a TB and Brucellosis-free state, we are free of those diseases as well.
We completed testing the Nubian herd for G6S and can prove that the entire HOANBU herd is also G6S NORMAL.

Show Ring

Over these many years, Hoanbu Dairy Goats has attended as many shows as we can _with an average over 10 show locations since 2006. We also do Linear Appraisals annually as well as participate in one-day milk tests, and standard DHI testing for proof of type and production.
How to Keep in Touch
Choosing a Hoanbu Dairy Goat
We enjoy talking with you about what you are looking for. We strive to fit the right animal with the right home so be sure to let us know what you are searching for and what improvements you'd like to see in kids from your Hoanbu dairy goat. Hoanbu Dairy Goats abides by ADGA Recommended Trade Practices as defined in the ADGA Guidebook.
Herd health and proper management is very important to us. All kids sold will be disbudded, tattooed, microchipped, hair pulled for DNA, vaccinated for CD/T, and supplemented with Bo-Se injection before leaving the farm. Coccidiosis preventative is also given to kids starting at 3 weeks of age and periodically until weaned. From time to time, older bucks and does may also be available for sale so please contact us if you are interested in an animal of any age.
Reserving Your Hoanbu Kid
To reserve the option to purchase a Hoanbu buck kid, a $100 deposit is required with remaining balance due within 10 days of notification of birth. We ask that you pick a first and second kid choice option in the event that your 1st choice is not available. If your choice of kid is not available or if the animal does not meet our standards of quality, we will gladly refund your deposit or transfer to another kid or semen if that is your desire, however there are no refunds on cancelled orders. Deposits along with any monies paid on cancelled orders are not refunded. Prices quoted are for pre-ordered kids picked up or shipped between 3 to 4 weeks of age. We do not guarantee these prices for animals ordered after birth. As the breeder/owner of these animals, I do reserve the right to keep any animal born. Please note that Nubians and Alpines are colored breeds and we cannot guarantee that kids born will be a certain color. Kids rejected by buyer due to color is considered a cancelled order.
Deposits and Payment
Prices quoted are for animals picked up at the farm. I generally accept 2 buck kid pre-orders from each dam per year. Deposits on live and mature animals will hold that animal until pick-up within 14 days. Sending a deposit is your guarantee that you will buy that animal at the agreed upon price quoted within this timeframe specified. Deposits on live animals offered for sale are accepted at the rate of $100 down per animal or 30% of the total amount, whichever is greater. Once a deposit is placed on a live animal, the goat must be picked up or shipped and out of my possession by 2 weeks or the animal may be offered for sale again or we reserve the right to assess a boarding fee at the rate of $20/day. Deposits can be transferred to another animal or semen, but all monies paid on cancelled orders are not refunded. Cash, PayPal, Venmo, money orders and good cleared checks are accepted. I will hold registration papers until personal checks clear the bank. Buyer is responsible for any and all bank fees assessed for bad checks. Buyer is responsible for all health certificates, veterinary exams, blood tests, shipping, crate, and other costs associated with veterinary fees and shipment/transport.
Please make checks or money orders out to: Holly Buroker
PayPal payments are preferred. Be aware that buyer is responsible for any PayPal transaction fees. Please include appropriate fees in your transaction at the time of the transaction. You can also send the PayPal funds as “friends and family" so transaction fees are not assessed. Please indicate what the payment is for in the notes section and include complete contact information.
Taking Your Kid Home
Although we encourage you to pick your kid up at the farm so that you may view related animals, this must be done by appointment only because of our work and time commitments. We realize this may not always be possible so limited delivery can be arranged to the local shows and events we attend, with additional transport costs. Long hauls to shows are prohibitive of trailer space, so we prefer to not bring sale goats with us that we are not showing. We are happy to work with reputable transporters for ground transport. We also can ship your new kid to you out of Columbus, Ohio (CMH) airport. All transport and shipping costs, including individual cost of kid, Certificate of Veterinary Inspection and any related testing needed, shipping crate and shipping fees are to be paid in full by the buyer prior to time of shipping. We will provide ADGA registration papers for any kid purchased by an ADGA member.
Bucks
Please know that we do not keep just any buck that is born. Our standards are high for a reason. Buck kids are usually castrated at or before 4 weeks of age if not pre-ordered as barn space and my time is limited. Due to time and work commitments, please understand that we do not like to keep “extra" buck kids around once show season is in full swing, so please consider pre-ordering and/or contacting us early. Buck kids are only conditionally available from first fresheners. Before a buck kid from a first freshener is sold as a breeding buck, his dam must be evaluated in milk. We ask that you view a few daughters in milk before any Hoanbu buck's semen is marketed to the public. We reserve the right to obtain 20 straws of semen from any buck we sell at the cost of collection.
As the breeder/owner of these animals, I do reserve the right to keep any animal born, or withdraw from sale an animal that does not meet our quality standards.
Thank you for your interest and I hope to hear from you soon! ~Holly
